Come and live in Granby!

The 10 House Project

During 2015 we will transform 10 long-term empty Victorian terraced houses into 5 x 2 bed homes will be available for affordable rent, and 5 x 2 bed homes will be available for shared ownership.

The Design

Our architects have created imaginative interiors for the houses, which will make them both striking in design as well as comfortable places to live.  All will have two bedrooms and we will be selling five and renting five – all at affordable rates.  The remaining houses in the Granby Four Streets neighbourhood are being renovated by other housing providers and developers – so the area will soon be returned to its former glory.

We will be basing our allocations on assessments of housing need, but we are encouraging previous Granby residents, who wish to return to the community, to apply for the homes.  We will provide a link to our allocations policy on this site when it is completed.

Training opportunities

We are also offering training opportunities for young people who live in the area.  This is aimed at 16-24 year olds who wish to learn vocational building and construction skills on the job whilst volunteering to help repair long-term empty properties for return to use as affordable social housing.

Young people will be mentored by local professional tradespeople and will be supported in working towards achieving a City & Guilds qualification over the course of the project. Those involved will gain skills in the modern day equivalent of the crafts that were used to add detailing to Victorian housing that we hope will be of use to them in future employment in a city with an extensive built heritage. Graduates of the scheme will also gain access to further training, work placements and apprenticeships with local employers beyond the project.
